Atom bomb comes off trail in Kent!

Well what a hectic week we had. It all began on Monday, July 30,2012 when we went to meet Adam at Bulls Bridge in Kent. While we waited for him we fed and conversed with more thru- hikers. Again everyone was pleasant and appreciative. Adam and his friends arrived late afternoon and rested and ate before our journey home.

   We ended up bringing 5 of his fellow hikers home for showers, rest, food and drink. The first crew stayed with us thru Wed., except for Leeks who went to Danbury on Tues.for a reunion with his wife, and everyone had a great time and  mostly enjoyed; real food, drinking and watching the Olympics.
Our garage was very smelly for days with all the hiker gear.This is their life in a pack.
 Group 2 came in Wed. night and despite their best intentions of only staying with us overnight remained until Fri.

Gary and I learned that when thru-hikers take a zero day they really like to relax and eat and drink and eat and drink!
Saturday evening brought Lindy(Gluttenpouf) and Detour for a quick overnight.

Sunday morning we brought everyone, including Adam back to the trail to resume

their northbound journey. Our whole family enjoyed  visiting with the friends Adam is making on the trail and  especially liked their stories and their life experiences. Despite being a smelly group all the thru-hikers have been pleasant and gracious and are welcome back anytime!
